Dancing Times magazine gave very lukewarm reviews of their performances there. They felt the company has gotten stale. The preview article they ran was full of anticipation and they felt let down. This seems sad to me.

I think it is good for the company. I think they need to hear the negative. They exist in a city that never says anything except how stellar they are and I think they have gone a bit stale. I trained in the school and turned down the company to take a job elsewhere for this reason. One of the things about Balanchine was that he did something different, he pushed the limits to what we considered ballet at that time. That to me is what Balanchine represents. I think the company needs to continue this. Grow, experiment, try new things even if they don't work. In order to grow as a dancer you need to constantly challenge yourself, the same is true for the organization.
