Could someone please tell me what happened to David Parsons? Where is he? What's up with his company, etc?

It's funny you should mention that Flash.  I was just thinking about David Parsons the other day when we were talking about American choreographers.  I remember seeing an amazing piece by him, although I can't remember the name.  He was dancing on a completly a black stage, and he had a strobe light hooked up to a button in his hand.  Every time he jumped he pressed the button.  The effect being that you only saw him when he was in the air.  So it looked like he was flying.  It was a really interesting effect.  The latest news I read about him was in the Arizona Star.  I believe they just had a performance there, at any rate, you can read it here.

The name of that piece is "Caught". I do not remember ever seeing the company perform without someone doing it, most notably David Parsons himself.

I read the article but there wasn't any hint of where else they might be performing...dang!

I love that piece. He has some really innovative stuff. You tend to forget about Parsons though, you don't hear much about his company. I have a friend who used to dance there...I am off to see if he still does. Thanks for reminding me of him!

Thank you so much! How is it that I go searching for stuff like this and it just eludes me? I gave up looking for a concert schedule for Parsons over a year ago because I couldn't find it, and now boom! Here it is! One thing I have learned from this schedule though; the company is doing smaller venues. That tells me money is tight or DP is being very clever by taking the company to the hinterland.  ;D ;D ;D
