Sam Lawson at Nouse has written a really interesting article on Kevin McKenize and the success of American Ballet Theater over the last 10 years.  Think what you will about Kevin Mckenzie, but you have to admit that he has raised the profile and quality of ABT immensely.  I remember..I think it was in the early 90's when I met a ABT dancer at a summer program and he told me that his contract had been only 15 weeks.

Sorry Kevin..no what how many great things you do you will always be the bloke that left his sweatpants on in the filming of Romeo and Juliet. Just kidding, nice article.  Wont stop me from posting the video though :-)

Poor Kevin I don't think he's ever going to live that one down. It seems like the board took a large risk when they hired this guy. Lucky for them it turned out well. I think it's crazy to assume that just because you have the skill set to be an excellent dancer, you also have the skills to be a director. Didn't Baryshnikov just about drive this company to bankruptcy? I have been reading about Angel Corella's new company that he started in Spain. I think they are performing in New York now.  I keep thinking, I hope he has the business understanding to keep the company running past a few years.
