ABT 2?

The university performance schedule came out recently. ABT II s going to be here in October. Are they a student group or an apprentice group? How good will the performance be? In more blunt words, ticket prices ate $35, $50 and $80 - will I get my money's worth?

ABT II is the junior company meaning that they lack the experience and sometimes the maturity to join the big company. They are talented and very well coached and you might very well be watching the next up and coming stars in which case $50 isn't so bad, lol.

Lots of companies have them. Pretty much it is a way for the directors to keep an eye on a dancer who isn't quite ready for the professional level but shows promise and is too advanced to just stay in school. They can watch how they develop with coaching to see if they are able to grow or collapse under the pressure. ABT II, Boston Ballet II and Alvin Ailey II I would say are the top of the league when it comes to junior companies. Enjoy the show!

Tickets go on sale August 8th, so I'll see what's available. They're also bringing in the Russian National Ballet in February.

Curious if you got tickets or not. What is the program they are bringing?

I bought cheap seats but I don't know the program right off hand. If I find out I'll post that information.

The brochure from UNLV says:

Handpicked dancers from around the world perform in this company of twelve under the direction of former American Ballet Theatre dancer Kirk Peterson. The New York Times calls this studio company "one of the great dance success stories."
